FAQ

What’s ‘Retro’ to you?

For me, I’m going by my own personal definition/gaming related things I’m actually interested in. So starting with things like the Atari 2600, all the way through to the Xbox 360/PS3 era which I’m alarmingly told is now very much considered old. I will also include ‘new’ retro games. So a new release on the GameBoy would also be a potential thing to get covered.

What games do you generally enjoy?

All sorts. Saturn/Dreamcast era is the sweet spot for me I think. So expect probably more around that time period.

This game you’ve covered, where did it come from? Did you get a big fat cheque to say that its great?

While I am aware that sort of thing can happen – I did do this for a living many years ago – no. Unless strongly highlighted, anything I talk about here is something I own, and bought with my own money.

You’re clearly a master web designer, can you make a site for me?

Oi, don’t be cheeky.

I have an idea for a game I think you’d enjoy and want to write about, how do I let you know?

Just drop me a line here

I’ve made a new ‘retro style’ game, and I’m releasing it on the Sega Mega Drive. Will you look at it and publish your opinion?

Same as above. Nudge me, and I’ll let you know. This is purely a hobby, and there’s so so much out there I’d like to write about so I can’t promise anything. And I’m not going to let anyone put effort in unless I’ve the time to do it justice. I don’t want someone sending me something that I can’t do justice for.

This website, the layout, the colour scheme, it all seems to change all the time. What’s going on?

I’m having a play!

Is any of this written with AI?

No. It’s all me. Spelling errors and all.

You score things out of 10. Why?

Honestly, it just feels what I’m most comfortable with. Though I do stand by the idea that 5 out of 10 is an ‘average game’. We all know most gaming media use 7 out of 10 as that definition.

Some reviews are 200 words, and others are 70,000. Why’s that?

Entirely depends on how much I have to say, what I have to say, and the time available.
